There are some different loan periods which are all identified as the ‘loan type’ on the Catalogue.

  • Standard loan: the majority of the books on our shelves are standard loan and can be borrowed for 2 months by undergraduate, postgraduate students, research students, and academic staff. They can be renewed twice if not reserved by another user.
  • Two week loan: these books may be borrowed for two weeks and may be renewed twice if not reserved by another user. They have a blue dot on the spine.
  • Two day loan: these books are in very high demand  and therefore cannot be renewed.
  • Reference: these books cannot be borrowed and are for consultation only. They may be held in a separate section of the Library or integrated into the main book stock, depending on your campus.
